Hi @Solmmeena7,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the blinking lights.
If the red light is blinking on your HP Ink Tank 310 series printer, it usually indicates an issue that needs to be addressed. Here are some common reasons for the red light blinking and steps to resolve the issue:
1. Ink Levels:
- Low Ink or Empty Tank:
- The blinking red light could indicate that one or more of the ink tanks are low on ink or empty. Check the ink levels by looking at the ink tanks on the side of the printer. If any of them are low, refill them with the appropriate HP ink.
- Ensure the ink tanks are properly filled and the caps are securely closed.
2. Paper Jam:
- Check for Paper Jams:
- A paper jam can also cause the red light to blink. Open the paper tray and check for any paper that might be stuck in the printer. Gently remove any jammed paper.
- Ensure that no small pieces of paper are left inside the printer.
3. Cartridge or Printhead Issue:
- Check the Cartridges:
- The red light might blink if the printhead or cartridges are not correctly installed or if there’s an issue with them.
- Open the printer’s top cover and make sure the printhead and cartridges are correctly seated in their slots.
- If you recently replaced the printhead or cartridges, ensure they are properly installed and that the protective tape has been removed.
4. Ink System Maintenance:
- Perform Ink System Cleaning:
- Sometimes, the printer might need maintenance to clear any clogs or air bubbles in the ink system. Follow the printer’s manual to perform an ink system cleaning.
5. Check the Paper Tray:
- Ensure Paper is Loaded Correctly:
- Make sure the paper is correctly loaded in the tray, and that the paper guides are snug against the paper, but not too tight.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Solmmeena7,
Please find the remaining steps below
6. Printer Reset:
- Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset the printer and clear any temporary errors.
7. Error Code or Message:
- Check for Error Messages:
- If the printer’s control panel or your computer shows an error code or message, refer to the printer’s manual or HP’s support website for information on what the specific code means and how to fix it.
8. Firmware Update:
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve issues that cause the red light to blink.
If after checking and addressing these potential issues the red light continues to blink, it might be a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
