Hi @Eug17

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for describing the issue so clearly. That persistent red light on the information button can be unsettling—especially when everything else seems to be working. I’m really sorry it’s causing confusion.

Here’s a structured approach to help resolve it:

1. Print a Status Report

Sometimes the printer is trying to communicate a pending setup or alert.

  • Press the Information button (the one with the “i” icon).
  • This should print a status page. Review it for any warnings or incomplete setup steps.

2. Check HP Smart App for Alerts

Even if the printer appears normal, the app may reveal hidden setup issues.

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Select your printer and check for any notifications, pending Instant Ink setup, or firmware updates.

In some cases, the red light remains on if Instant Ink registration is incomplete or if a store-bought cartridge is used before the first Instant Ink delivery.

3. Perform a Power Reset

This clears temporary alerts that may be stuck in memory.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back and from the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power on.

Make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet—not a surge protector or extension cord.

4. Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can cause persistent LED alerts.

Let me know if you'd like help identifying your exact model or reviewing the status page. I’m here to help you get clarity and peace of mind.
