Welcome to HP Support Community 😀,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Double-check the PIN
- Ensure the correct PIN is entered: The PIN you're looking for should be found on the printer’s information sheet or directly on the printer itself (often near the Wi-Fi settings). Be sure you're using the WPS PIN and not the regular printer PIN or any other number on the printer label.
- Format check: Ensure you’re entering the PIN exactly as it appears. Sometimes the PIN may include dashes or spaces, so be careful to enter it exactly, without adding or omitting any characters.
Check your router's WPS settings
- Ensure WPS is enabled on your router: If WPS is not enabled, you won’t be able to use it to connect the printer. Access your router’s settings (usually via a web interface or app) to confirm that WPS is enabled.
- Try using the router’s WPS button: Instead of using the PIN, you can try using the physical WPS button on your router to connect the printer. If the router supports it, press the WPS button and then select the WPS connection option on the printer.
Printer software/firmware update
- Check for updates: Ensure that the printer's firmware is up to date. An outdated firmware might cause compatibility issues. You can check this in the printer's settings or via the HP support website.
- Reboot the printer: Sometimes a simple restart can help resolve connection issues.
Check network settings
- Same Wi-Fi network: Make sure both your printer and your computer (or the device you are using to install the printer) are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check the Wi-Fi frequency: Some printers only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while others may support 5 GHz. Ensure your network is compatible with the printer.
Use the standard connection method (if WPS fails)
- If WPS still doesn’t work, consider using the manual connection method where you enter your Wi-Fi network details directly into the printer (SSID and password). This can often bypass the WPS connection issue.
Reset the printer's network settings
- If you're still having trouble, you might want to reset the printer's network settings to default and start over. You can usually do this by navigating to the Network Settings section in the printer's menu and selecting Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
