Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E0 error on the HP DeskJet 2710e typically indicates a cartridge-related issue. Since you've replaced both the black and color cartridges but the error persists, try the following steps:

Reseat the Cartridges

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the cartridge access door and carefully remove both cartridges.
  3. Inspect the cartridges for protective tape—if present, remove it.
  4. Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their respective slots:
    • Black on the right.
    • Color on the left.
  5. Close the door and restart the printer.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Wipe the gold-colored contacts on both cartridges and inside the printer.
  • Allow them to dry completely before reinserting.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  2. Unplug it from the wall outlet and wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the error clears.

Align the Cartridges

If the printer starts without an error, try aligning the cartridges:

  1. Open the HP Smart app (or use the printer control panel).
  2. Look for Printer Maintenance > Align Cartridges.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Firmware Updates

If the issue persists, update the printer firmware:

  • Open HP Smart or go to HP Support and check for firmware updates.

Try One Cartridge at a Time

  • Insert only the black cartridge and check if the printer recognizes it.
  • Do the same for the color cartridge.
  • If one cartridge triggers the error, it might be defective.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP Support.
  • Follow the troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
