Hi @tlamp331,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Printer Failure" error on the HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer after replacing the cartridges could be caused by various issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot.
Restart the Printer
- With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
Check the Ink Cartridges
- Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove them, and reinstall them to ensure they're seated correctly.
- Verify that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes, non-HP cartridges can trigger errors.
- Clean the copper contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
- Inspect the cartridges for any damage or leakage.
Reset the Printer
Performing a hard reset can sometimes clear error messages:
- Turn on the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
- Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can cause issues with new ink cartridges.
- Go to HP's support page and search for your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware updates.
Reset the Print System (Mac) or Reinstall Printer Drivers (Windows)
- For Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > right-click your printer > Reset printing system. Re-add the printer after the reset.
- For Windows: Uninstall the printer drivers from Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Then, reinstall the latest drivers from HP’s website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
