Hi @tlamp331,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Printer Failure" error on the HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer after replacing the cartridges could be caused by various issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot.

Restart the Printer

  1. With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
  5. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  1. Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove them, and reinstall them to ensure they're seated correctly.
  2. Verify that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes, non-HP cartridges can trigger errors.
  3. Clean the copper contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  4. Inspect the cartridges for any damage or leakage.

Reset the Printer

Performing a hard reset can sometimes clear error messages:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates

  1. Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can cause issues with new ink cartridges.
  2. Go to HP's support page and search for your printer model.
  3. Download and install the latest firmware updates.

Reset the Print System (Mac) or Reinstall Printer Drivers (Windows)

  • For Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > right-click your printer > Reset printing system. Re-add the printer after the reset.
  • For Windows: Uninstall the printer drivers from Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Then, reinstall the latest drivers from HP’s website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
