Is it necessary to uninstall your old printer first when replacing with a new one?

@DoxieDeb, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

If it is a different model printer, then yes, it is better to uninstall the old printer driver before installing the new one.

If you use the old printer, you need not uninstall it. You can just install the new printer driver.

 

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.
