Hi @Evan12344
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the screen on your HP Envy Photo 7855 printer is frozen while trying to download or update, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button.
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on again.
- Check if the screen is still frozen or if it resumes functioning.
2. Check the Printer for Error Messages
- Sometimes the printer may be showing an error message that's causing the screen to freeze. Look for any messages on the screen or any blinking lights and take note of them.
- If there are error messages, address them based on what the message says.
3. Check the Internet Connection
- If the printer is trying to download something (e.g., a firmware update) and the screen freezes, it could be due to a poor or interrupted internet connection.
- Make sure the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. You can check this by printing a network configuration page (refer to your printer's manual for instructions).
- If the connection is unstable, try reconnecting to Wi-Fi or moving the printer closer to the router to improve signal strength.
4. Perform a Printer Reset
- Resetting the printer to its default factory settings can sometimes resolve frozen screen issues. Follow these steps:
- Open the printer settings from the touchscreen panel.
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults or similar options.
- Confirm the reset and let the printer reboot.
5. Clear Printer Queue
- If there is a print job stuck in the printer queue, it may cause the printer to freeze while processing. To clear the queue:
- Cancel any active print jobs from your computer or through the printer’s display.
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers on your computer.
- Right-click on your HP printer, and select See what’s printing.
- Click Cancel All Documents.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
