Hi @Bobclassic
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the screen light on your HP 6900 printer stays on and it's not functioning properly, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
2. Check for Error Messages
- Look at the printer’s display for any error messages or codes. If there are any, note them down as they can provide clues to the issue.
3. Check Connections
- Ensure that all cables (power and data) are securely connected. If you're using USB, try a different port or cable.
4. Reset the Printer
- If there’s an option in the printer menu, perform a factory reset. This can often resolve persistent issues.
5. Update Firmware
- Check for any firmware updates on the HP website. Download and install any updates that are available for your printer model.
6. Check for Overheating
- Ensure the printer is in a well-ventilated area. If it feels hot, let it cool down before turning it back on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
