Hi @lorlou67,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer may be having issues with print job management and default settings. Here’s how you can troubleshoot this.
Clear the Print Queue
- On your computer, check if there are any pending or stuck print jobs.
- For Windows: Open the printer settings, select your HP ENVY Photo 7855, and clear the queue.
- For Mac: Go to "System Preferences" → "Printers & Scanners" → select your printer → click "Open Print Queue," and clear any stuck jobs.
Check Your Print Settings
- Verify that the correct document(s) and the number of copies are selected before sending to print. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause issues like multiple copies of the same document.
- Ensure that you are selecting the right document each time and that the settings don’t default to multiple copies.
- For Windows: Go to "Control Panel" → "Devices and Printers" → right-click your HP ENVY Photo 7855 → "Printing Preferences" and make sure to select your desired settings.
- For Mac: Open the document, go to "File" → "Print" and review the print dialog settings, making sure they reflect what you want.
Reset the Printer Defaults
- On the printer itself, go to Settings → Restore Defaults. This can help clear any glitches with preset settings being reverted unexpectedly.
Update Printer Firmware and Drivers
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check this on the HP Support website for the latest firmware update for your model.
- Also, update the printer driver on your computer by going to HP’s official website and downloading the latest drivers for your HP ENVY Photo 7855.
Use HP Smart App
- If you’re using HP Smart App for printing, make sure it’s updated to the latest version. Review the print settings within the app to ensure multiple copies aren’t being selected by default.
If the issue persists, try restarting both the printer and your computer, and check if the problem is resolved after doing these steps.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
