Hi @BB712 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing an issue with your HP Officejet 4635 printer, especially if it shuts down and cannot be turned back on after a MAP error, you may want to try the following steps:

Check Power Connection:

  • Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet.
  • Try plugging the power cord into a different outlet to rule out issues with the current outlet.

Perform a Power Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and try turning on the printer.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer. Paper jams can sometimes trigger errors.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can resolve various issues.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions or foreign objects inside the printer.

Check for Overheating:

  • If the printer feels unusually warm, it may have overheated. Allow it to cool down for some time before attempting to turn it on again.

Factory Reset (Caution):

  • As a last resort, you may consider a factory reset, but be aware that this will erase all custom settings. Consult your printer's manual or HP support for instructions on performing a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
