Microsoft Windows 11

HP OfficeJet Pro 6978...All of a sudden printer refuses to print. Continuously gives me a print carriage cannot move and a paper jam message. There are no paper jams and print carriage moves freely. Appears as though print cartridges are leaking because there is a noticeable amount of ink inside printer lower right area where carriage hangs out. Also, printer refuses to shut down when power button is pressed. Window reading says "shutting down" but it goes on forever without shutting down. Pulling the electrical cord from socket will shut it down every time but same issues occur when plugging it back in. Just tell me your product is inferior to other products on the market and I'll give another printer brand a chance to please me!

Hi @Murphtx,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Excellent description and a great diagnosis. It is greatly appreciated.

Let's try a semi-full reset and see if that helps.

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
