Hi,

I currently have the HP 5100 Smart Tank series. I cannot print a single page without it splitting. The page will start printing, then stop halfway through, then use another page to print the rest. How can I fix this issue?

@Olsen6, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Check Paper Size and Type

  • Ensure that the correct paper size and type are selected in the print settings. Mismatched settings can cause page splitting.

2. Verify Print Settings

  • Check and verify that the print settings match the document's size and quality requirements. You can do this in the application you are printing from by selecting File > Print, then checking the Page Setup or Printer Preferences.

3. Update Printer Drivers

  • Make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download and install them from the HP Support Website.

4. Check Paper Condition

  • Inspect the paper load in the input tray. Make sure it is not curled, wrinkled, or damp, as these can affect paper feeding and cause page splitting.

5. Clean the Printhead

  • Use the HP Smart app to clean the printhead. In the app, go to Tools > Print Quality Tools, and select Clean Printhead. This can help if ink flow issues are causing the problem.

6. Use a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  • You can print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page to identify any print quality issues. On your printer’s panel, press and hold the Information button for five seconds to enable support mode and print the diagnostic page.

7. Examine Print Alignment

  • Use the HP Smart app to align the printhead if necessary. This ensures the printheads are correctly aligned, which can help prevent splitting.
