Hi there @m20002, and welcome to HP Support Community!
Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.
If your HP printer has suddenly started printing very slowly, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Restart Printer and Computer
- Power off your printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
- Restart your computer.
- Reconnect and power on the printer.
Check Printer Connection
- If you're using Wi-Fi, ensure the signal is strong and stable.
- For USB connections, try a different port or cable.
Update Printer Firmware
Outdated firmware can cause performance issues.
- Visit Official HP® Support
- Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware. Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support
Change Print Quality Settings
High-quality settings can slow down printing.
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer > Printing Preferences.
- Set Print Quality to Draft or Normal instead of Best.
Disable Duplex Printing (if enabled)
Two-sided printing can be slower.
- In Printing Preferences, uncheck Print on both sides.
Check for Large or Complex Print Jobs
- Large PDFs or images may take longer to process.
- Try printing a simple text document to compare speed.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
Corrupted drivers can affect performance.
- Uninstall the printer from Devices and Printers.
- Reinstall using Official HP® Support
Additional Tips
- Avoid printing over VPN or remote desktop.
