Smart Tank 670 Scanner light blips

Hi all , 

My printer's scanner is bliping all the time even the cover is closed , I can see it . is this normal ?

I can clearly see the scanner light bar illuminated and blinking even when the lid is closed on your HP Smart Tank 670 series printer.

Is This Normal?

Yes, this behavior is normal for HP Smart Tank and many other HP printers. Here’s why:

• The scanner light periodically blinks or stays on when the printer is in Ready or Sleep mode.
• This is part of the printer’s self-maintenance and calibration process to keep the scanner ready for quick use.
• It does not indicate a fault or damage to the printer.

If the blinking light bothers you:

• Enable Sleep Mode or Auto-Off in the printer settings via the HP App: 
  • Open HP Smart > Printer Settings > Preferences > Sleep Mode
  • Set a shorter time (e.g., 5 minutes)
• Or turn off the printer when not in use.
