Hi All,

My HP MFP M880z, is printing smudge horizontal lines along the left and right side of the paper.

Please see attached for reference. Please advise on what might be the issue.

Thank you!20250409161740.jpg

Are you feeding paper long edge first or short edge first. For a better idea of what is going on do the following and post the results.

1. Do a test print on 11x17 paper, this eliminates the guess work of which way the paper is moving through the printer.

2. Print the print quality diagnostics pages. Depending on which Firmware you have installed this will be in a different location but usually in troubleshooting menu.

I am not sure where to find the Quality Diagnostic Test on the MFP M880, can you help me locate that?

As you get the defect on all colors, that would suggest that the problem rests with either the fuser or the transfer belt. You need to print something on 11x17 to get an idea if the defect repeats on a print cycle so you can measure the distance between defects which will tell you which component is bad. I would lean towards transfer belt, pull it out and look for any label stuck to the belt or possibly some other foreign object.
