I've inserted a new ink cartridge into my printer HP Laserjet M209dwe and now it's status is "Validating". Nothing changing.

What do I need to do to get passed this stage. It is a genuine HP ink cartridge

Hi @Ben2476,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet M209dwe printer is stuck on the "Validating" status after inserting a new genuine HP ink cartridge, it's likely that the printer is encountering an issue while verifying the authenticity or compatibility of the cartridge. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Ensure Proper Installation:

  • Double-check that the ink cartridge is properly installed in the printer. Ensure that it is securely seated in its slot and that the cartridge door is closed properly.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes reset the printer's internal mechanisms and resolve temporary issues.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and remove the ink cartridge.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
  • Allow the cartridge to dry completely, then reinstall it in the printer and check if the issue persists.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP LaserJet M209dwe printer.
  • Firmware updates can sometimes address compatibility issues with ink cartridges.
  • Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the printer firmware.

Try Another Cartridge (if available):

  • If you have another genuine HP ink cartridge available, try inserting it into the printer to see if the issue persists.
  • This can help determine if the problem lies with the cartridge itself or with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
