Hi @EL100,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing print quality issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 printer. Lines appearing on prints can be caused by several factors.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges are not low or empty. Low ink levels can cause print quality issues.
  • Clean Print Heads: Use the printer's software utility to clean the print heads. This can help remove any clogs or debris that may be causing the lines.
  • Align Print Heads: Perform a print head alignment through the printer's software. This ensures that the print heads are properly aligned, which can improve print quality.
  • Check Paper Quality: Use high-quality paper that is recommended for your printer. Low-quality paper or paper that is too thin may cause smudging or lines on prints.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause print quality issues.
  • Inspect Printer Rollers: Check for any debris or obstructions in the printer rollers. Clean them if necessary to ensure smooth paper feed.
  • Perform a Printer Reset: Sometimes, resetting the printer to its factory settings can resolve persistent issues. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried them all but the problem remains. I have called the local support center. They advised that the printer was irreparable as the production of this model had ceased and there would be no parts available. I have given up and replaced the printer.
