I have the dreaded supply system problem error.

All cartridges are new (this error came up before I replaced them)

I tried everything I’ve read about: hard reset, clean contacts, reload cartridges, wiggled printhead, firmware up to date etc

What now? This giant thing that I’ve used less than 50 times goes to the landfill? Ugh HP!

It was working fine. And now it’s not.

Hi @apyo1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The "Supply System Problem" error you're encountering could be related to communication issues between the cartridges and the printer, or other hardware-related problems. Since you've already tried several solutions without success, here are a few additional steps you can consider:

Check for Firmware Updates: While you've mentioned that your firmware is up-to-date, it's worth checking again on Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support to ensure there's no recent release that you might have missed.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn the printer on if it's not already.
  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on.

Clean and Check Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Carefully open the cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Inspect the cartridge contacts for any dirt or residue; clean them gently with a clean, lint-free cloth and distilled water if needed.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and ensure they are seated correctly.

Examine the Printhead:

  • If your printer has a removable printhead, try removing it and ensuring there is no dirt or debris on the contacts.

  • Follow the printer's manual for instructions on removing and installing the printhead, if applicable.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I tried all of these things but I’m still getting the same error.

And now it says there is a supply system problem and shows C M and Y. All cartridges are new. Previously it only showed Y.

thanks for your help

Hi @apyo1,

Thank you for your response.

We found that the black Ink cartridge warranty has expired on 10/2021.

You have to replace it with a new one, and the issue will be fixed.
