Hi @mark11111111111,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4650 is showing a "Printer is in error state" message after switching to AT&T Internet, it's likely due to a network or driver communication issue. Here's how to fix it:

1. Power Reset Everything

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug your AT&T router/modem for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • After your Wi-Fi is fully back online, turn the printer on.
  • Restart your computer as well.

2. Reconnect Printer to New Wi-Fi

Since you switched networks, the printer may still be trying to connect to your old Wi-Fi.

On the printer:

  • Tap the Wi-Fi icon on the printer screen.
  • Choose Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new AT&T Wi-Fi name and enter the password.

If it doesn’t show up, use the HP Smart App on your phone or computer to reconfigure the printer's Wi-Fi.

3. Remove & Reinstall Printer on PC

On your Windows computer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners
  • Select the HP OfficeJet 4650 > Remove device
  • Open the HP Smart App or download the full driver from HP's site and reinstall.

4. Check Default Printer & Driver

  • Make sure HP OfficeJet 4650 is set as the default printer.
  • Avoid using the “Fax” version or Microsoft Print to PDF as the default.
  • In Devices and Printers, right-click the printer > See what's printing > Printer > Use Printer Online if available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
