I changed all the cartridges of HP8715 with genuine HP cartridges, I am receiving a message Supply System Problem, try replacing K cartridge which is black with a new one. I have replaced the black cartridge with several new ones, but I keep getting the same Supply System Problem message. What can I do to fix this problem?  I asked a printer technician, and he mentioned to change the printer head.

Hi @Ronnie1528,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering a "Supply System Problem" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer, even after replacing the black (K) cartridge with new genuine HP cartridges, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here’s a structured approach to diagnose and potentially fix the problem:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Reinstall the Cartridges: Remove the black cartridge and then reinstall it, making sure it clicks into place securely. Also, do this for all other cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
  • Clean Contacts: Inspect the metal contacts on the cartridges and inside the cartridge slots for any dust or ink residue. Gently clean them with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.

2. Verify Cartridge Compatibility

  • Confirm Cartridge Model: Ensure that the cartridges you are using are the correct models for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8715. Using the wrong cartridges can sometimes cause compatibility issues.

3. Check Printer Head

  • Clean Printhead: If the error persists, the printhead might need cleaning. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to clean the printhead or initiate a cleaning cycle through the printer’s menu.
  • Inspect for Damage: Check the printhead for any visible damage or wear. If the printhead is clogged or damaged, it may need to be replaced.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

5. Perform a Printer Diagnostic

  • Printer Self-Test: Run a self-test or diagnostic report from the printer’s menu. This can sometimes identify specific issues with the printer hardware.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues with cartridge recognition.

6. Replace the Printhead

  • Purchase a New Printhead: If cleaning the printhead doesn’t resolve the issue and the technician recommended replacing it, you may need to purchase a new printhead. Make sure to get a genuine HP printhead compatible with the OfficeJet Pro 8715.
  • Install the New Printhead: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installing the new printhead. Ensure all cartridges are properly installed after the printhead replacement.

7. Check for Internal Printer Issues

  • Inspect for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions inside the printer that could be interfering with the cartridge or printhead.
  • Check for Error Codes: Look for any additional error codes or messages on the printer display that might provide more details about the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
