Microsoft Windows 11

WHEN I PRESS THE RESUME BUTTON ,  THE PRINTER MAKES A CLICKING NOISE & SORT OF LIKE A HUMMING SOUNG.   IT'S HARD   TO SEE THE CONTROLL PANEL, BUT, I FINALLY GOT TO SEE IT. IT HAS A WI-FI  ICON ON IT-A PRINTER ICON ON IT- A FLASHING RESUME BUTTON AND AN E4 FLASHING.  PRESSING THE RESUME BUTTON DOESN'T WORK.    I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, CAUSE,  I USED IT FOR QUITE A WHILE SINCE I HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT BEFORE AND IT WAS FINE THE OTHER NIGHT.  I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND  ANYTHING ABOUT PRINTERS, AND ONLY A BIT ABOUT COMPUTERS OR OTHER TECHNICAL THINGS

@1DIANE_1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Power Cycle the Printer:

Turn the printer off, unplug it from the wall, and leave it off for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Plug it back in, and turn it on again. Check to see if the error clears.

Check for Paper Jams:

Open the paper tray and any access panels (check the front or rear of the printer depending on the model).

Look carefully for any bits of paper or debris stuck inside that might be causing the issue. Even a tiny piece of paper can trigger this error.

Remove anything you find carefully.

Check the Ink Cartridges:

Sometimes, the ink cartridges can get stuck or misaligned. Make sure they are seated properly.

If any cartridges are missing or improperly installed, it could cause a problem.

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for 60 seconds and connect the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer.

Wi-Fi and Connectivity:

Since you mentioned a Wi-Fi icon, the printer may be trying to reconnect to your wireless network, or there may be a network error affecting it.

Check your printer’s wireless settings by navigating through the printer's menu. You may need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network or reset network settings if that's part of the issue.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
