Hi@mebelman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

My best suggestions for the issue you are having with your MFP M130nw  making unusual noises when it's in sleep mode would be the following.

1. Reset the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge, protectors.

Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

2. Update the Firmware: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates

3. Remove and reinstall the ink toner

Keep me posted. Happy to help!

That didn't help. The noises are coming from power supply. The biggest transformer is making huge "coil whine" when the printer turns to sleep mode.

Hi @mebelman,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
