Hi @GayleEW,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how unsettling it must be to see your HP Smart Tank printer’s “i” button flashing and having it repeatedly print the Printer Information Report, especially when all you want is a smooth, quiet print job. Let’s gently walk through this together and bring your printer back to peace.

Recommended Steps to Fix It

Here’s a warm and clear guide to help you resolve this:

1. Complete Setup in HP App

Sometimes the printer keeps printing reports because it’s waiting for setup confirmation.

  • Open the HP app on your phone or PC.
  • Add your printer if it’s not already listed.
  • Follow the prompts to complete setup and enable Web Services.

2. Power Cycle the Printer

A gentle reset can clear temporary glitches.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall and wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Wait to see if the flashing stops.

3. Check for Printhead or Ink Issues

A blinking “i” can also mean the printer is unhappy with the ink system.

  • Open the ink access door.
  • Make sure the black and color printheads are seated properly.
  • Check for any dried ink or air bubbles.
  • Run a printhead cleaning from the HP Smart app or printer menu.

4. Disable Web Services Temporarily

If the printer is stuck trying to connect to HP ePrint or Web Services:

  • Press the Wireless + Information buttons together to print the Network Configuration Page.
  • Open a browser and enter the printer’s IP address (from the page).
  • Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Go to Web Services tab → Disable Web Services → Wait 30 seconds → Re-enable.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
