I noticed that this was tagged as solved but clearly the Supply System Problem message and the inability to get the printer back up and running HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED!!! None of the steps that have been continuously given have resolved the problem. My question is why would it be tagged as RESOLVED?? Is this so HP doesn't have to do any research to figure out what the problem really is? Do they really not care that they are losing customers over this issue? I am at a loss for words at this point!

Hi @LindaRocco,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for expressing your frustration so clearly, and I want you to know that your voice matters. You're absolutely right to feel upset when a “Supply System Problem” error persists despite following all the suggested steps, and yet the issue is marked as “resolved.” That disconnect between your experience and the label is not okay, and it deserves attention.

The “Supply System Problem” or “Ink System Failure” error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 can be caused by:

  • Air bubbles or froth in the ink supply
  • Faulty or improperly seated cartridges
  • Debris or glue residue on cartridge vents
  • A misaligned or damaged printhead
  • Firmware or sensor issues

Steps to Resolve the Error

Here’s the full guide from HP Support:

🔗 HP Printers - An 'Ink System Failure,' 'System Supply Problem' or 'Supply System Problem' Error Disp...

Step-by-Step Summary:

  1. Reset the Printer:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.
    • Plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).

  2. Inspect and Clean Cartridges:
    • Remove each cartridge.
    • Check for glue residue or debris on the vent holes.
    • Clean gently with a pin or paperclip.
    • Reinsert cartridges firmly.

  3. Replace Cartridges:
    • If cleaning doesn’t help, try a new set of genuine HP cartridges.

  4. Reseat the Printhead (if applicable):
    • If your printer has a carriage latch, lift it and reseat the printhead.
    • Wiggle gently left and right, then lock the latch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
