Hi @RobBuch,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 674’s digitizer lamp is blinking continuously. Let’s go through some steps to identify and fix the issue.

Check for Error Messages

A blinking digitizer lamp usually indicates a hardware or connection issue with the scanner.

Look at the printer’s display panel (if available) or HP Smart app for any error messages.

Restart the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.

Check if the lamp stops blinking.

Check Scanner Lid and Connections

Ensure the scanner lid is properly closed; an open or misaligned lid can trigger the lamp.

If the scanner is separate from the printer body, make sure all internal connections are secure.

Clean Scanner Glass and Digitizer

Gently clean the scanner glass and the digitizer lamp area with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Remove any dust or debris that might be interfering with the scanner mechanism.

Perform a Printer Reset

On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.

Reboot the printer after the reset.

Update Firmware / Software

Use the HP Smart app or HP Support website to check for firmware updates.

Updating can fix communication errors between the scanner and printer.

I hope this helps.

Hello, Kuroi. Thank you for your response. I followed all the steps you suggested, but unfortunately, the problem persists. I am looking for a specialized technical assistance in Jundiaí-Sp, where I live. Actually, I bought this printer and took a long time to set it up, and now the warranty has expired. Are you sure that it is not normal for the scanner light to be blinking on this model? Thank you very much, Roberto.

Hi @RobBuch,

Thanks for your update! I understand that your HP Smart Tank 674’s digitizer lamp is still blinking after following the troubleshooting steps.

For this model, a blinking scanner lamp is not normal, it usually indicates a hardware or scanner mechanism issue. Since the standard troubleshooting (power cycle, lid check, cleaning, reset, and firmware update) didn’t resolve it, the printer likely needs service or parts replacement to fix the digitizer.

Hello, Kuroi. Thank you for your help. I looked for an HP Service through the HP Service Center Locator and there is none listed for Brazil. Do you have any link from HP Brazil with this information for me to check? The printer is having another problem: I programmed it to turn off automatically in 15 minutes, and it simply doesn't turn off. Do you have any tips for this situation?Thank you.
