When trying to print documents( .pdf , .pages , .docx ) that contain images, the print queue crashes.  On my computer, the error log states that the printer is "Unable to queue job for destination ipp:/***s-iMac.local/printers/HP_ColorLaserJet_MFP_M278-M281."  This error has occurred when attempting to print from multiple computers and from USB drives.  I have tried to fix this problem by updating the firmware.  Even though the firmware was successfully updated, there has been no change in the problem.  However, it appears the printer can successfully print documents with images so long as the images are formatted inline and the first image is < 8kb.  This problem first appeared in August after our computers update to macOS 10.15.6 and continues to exist in macOS 11.

Thank you for your time,

@C12H22O11sw, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print documents with images. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Try printing. If the issue persists, reinstall the printer using AirPrint driver and try printing as mentioned in step 2 of this document - Printing with Apple AirPrint

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
