I have aHP4200e printer. I want to print one simple page of A4 text but the printer keeps breaking it in two and printing on two pages. This is useless to me.
How do I go about fixing this?

Hi @BigArold,

I understand your HP 4200e printer is splitting a single A4 page into two pages when printing. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
a. Check Paper Size Settings
When printing, open the Print dialog in the application.
Make sure Paper Size is set to A4 (210 × 297 mm).
Do not select “Letter” or any custom size that could cause scaling.
b. Check Page Scaling / Fit Options
In the Print dialog, look for options like “Fit to Page”, “Scale to Fit”, or “Page Scaling”.
Set it to “None” or “Actual Size” to prevent the printer from splitting content across pages.
c. Check Printer Settings
Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → HP 4200e → Printer Properties.
Under the Paper/Quality tab, confirm Paper Size = A4 and Orientation = Portrait (if applicable).
d. Update Printer Driver
Open HP Support Assistant or go to support.hp.com, enter your printer model, and install the latest driver for your operating system.
A driver mismatch can sometimes cause incorrect page formatting.
e. Check Application Page Setup
In your application (Word, PDF reader, etc.), go to Page Setup → Paper Size → A4.
Ensure Margins are not too large, as excessive margins may push content onto a second page.
f. Test with Another Document / Application
Try printing a simple text file or PDF to see if the issue persists.
This helps determine whether it’s an application-specific problem or printer-wide.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
