Hi  -would be very grateful for advice -  My OfficeJet Pro 6970 screen reports a paper jam - error code Ox6100004a. However I have checked and there is no jam. I have switched off, unplugged and pressed start button for 5 secs but the message persists. Please advise - thank you!

@tom29Sept, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The error code 0x6100004a on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 usually suggests a persistent paper jam or carriage jam issue, even when there is no visible paper jam. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can follow to resolve this error:

Restart the Printer:

  • Ensure the printer is completely turned off. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This sometimes resets any error conditions.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all removable access areas such as the paper input tray, paper output area, and the ink cartridge access door.
  • Look carefully inside the printer for any small bits of paper or foreign objects that might be obstructing the paper path or the carriage.

Check the Carriage Movement:

  • Ensure that the printer is turned on.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door, and check if the carriage is able to move freely. Gently move the carriage side to side (if possible) to ensure it isn’t stuck on a previous jam.

Clean the Rollers:

  • Using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water, gently clean the paper feed rollers. This can remove any debris that might be causing a false paper jam error.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes performing a hard reset can clear erroneous errors. Unplug the power cord from the printer again and wait for another 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
