Hi @BG348,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When encountering issues like this with your scanner, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to try and resolve the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a minute or two, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Connections: Ensure that all cables connecting the scanner to your computer are securely plugged in. Also, check if there are any loose connections or damaged cables.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Paper jams can sometimes cause the scanner to become busy or unresponsive. Open the scanner lid and check for any paper jams or debris that might be obstructing the scanning mechanism.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or use the HP Smart app to check for updates.
  • Restart Computer: Sometimes, issues can arise from the computer's end. Try restarting your computer to see if that resolves the problem.
  • Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your printer to its factory settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings you've configured on the printer.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your scanner. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out for help!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
