HP ENVY 4050
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I usually scan via the HP smart application.

Suddenly I cannot scan anymore, I have an error message saying (in French), alternatively, that there is something wrong with the scanner, or, that the scanner is busy. The HP smart app keeps telling me to reconfigure the printer, which I do, but it doesn't work.

I can scan with HP Scan or Microsoft Scanneur.

But I cannot anymore scan with HP Smart (which interface is much more user friendly). So there is a problem with HP Smart apparently.

I have already tried these solutions :

- Uninstalling and reinstalling the printer-scanner HP Envy 4050

- Uninstalling and reinstalling HP Smart

- Shutdown and restart the computer, the printer-scanner, and the Wifi connection.

- Reconfigure the printer

- Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which tells me the scanner is ok and lauches a test with HP Print.

Of course, it works with HP Print, I can scan with the HP Print app.  But it still does not work with HP Smart ?

What are the solutions to fix this HP Smart bug ?

Best regards

Hi @Saturday1829,

I'd like to help!

Remove and re-add the printer on the HP Smart app.

Try updating printer firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

and then try and please share the exact error message on the HP Smart app

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

It still doesn't work.

The error messages are alternatively (in French) :

"Scanner en cours d'utilisation (scanner busy)

Réessayez lorsqu'il sera disponible." (try again when it is available)

And :

"Problème lié au scanner (problem with the scanner)

Un problème lié au scanner a été détecté. Redémarrez l'imprimante et réessayez. Si le problème persiste, consultez le site Web d'assistance HP.

http://www.hp.com/support" (a problem with the scanner has been detected. Restart the printer and try again. If the problem continues, refer to www.hp.com/support)

I have tried every solution.

I remind you that I only have this problem with the HP Smart App (I can scan with the HP Scan, or MS windows Scanneur apps). I would like to continue de scan with the HP Smart App but for the moment it is impossible with this bug.

It is a pity. The problem came out all of a sudden for no reason.

Hope you can help.

Kind regards

Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works

Uninstall HP Scan and reinstall and then try.

Hello,

Thanks again but... my Windows 10 is up to date, with automatic updates, last checked 8 am this morning.

I am afraid it is something linked to HP Smart since it is the only App the scanner does not work with anymore.

Kind regards
