Hi @Jenn143, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The orange light beside the three colored dots on your HP DeskJet 2852e printer usually indicates an issue related to the ink cartridges. Since you're using HP 67XL black and color ink, here are a few possible reasons for the light:

Possible Causes & Solutions:

Low or Empty Ink – The printer may be warning you that one or both cartridges are low or out of ink. Check the ink levels in the HP Smart app or printer settings.

  • If low, replace the cartridge.

Cartridge Not Recognized – The printer may not be detecting the ink properly.

  • Try removing both cartridges, cleaning the contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, and reinserting them securely.

Cartridge Compatibility Issue – Ensure that you are using genuine HP 67XL cartridges.

  • If the cartridges are refilled or third-party, the printer might not recognize them.

Ink Cartridge Door Open – If the cartridge access door is not fully closed, the orange light may turn on.

  • Open and firmly close the access door.

Firmware/Software Issue – A pending update or firmware issue might be causing the error.

  • Restart the printer and check for firmware updates using the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
