Some basic considerations:
The printer is not aware of what it is printing.
What the printer prints is determined by how the printer perceives the paper:
For example: Size, Shape, and Thickness
What the printer prints has very much to do with the settings for that paper:
For example, Size, Type (Card, Photo, Brochure)
What the printer prints is determined by the software used to view and submit the content to the printer.
For example,
Chrome might cut off the top of the content if the margins are not set correctly to include that first two inches.
Word documents might cut off the top if the header / footer is outside the print area.
