HP OfficeJet 6970
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have a Model: HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One

Model Number 6970

I am attempting to set up the wireless feature. The printer locates the wireless name - when I click on the name of the correct wireless, I am prompted to enter the password.

The touchscreen will not allow me to type in the letters. I am able to properly click on some letters, but other letters do not work properly. For example, when I click on the letter "r" - the letter "t" will show on the screen. When I try to click on the period - nothing happens and then I am taken out of the password screen and asked what type of keyboard I would like to use.

- I have completed a factory setting reboot.

- I have unplugged the cord from the printer with the printer on - then unplugged the cord from the wall - and, held the power button for 30 seconds to get rid of any charge left in the printer.

- I have removed the printer from my Mac.

- Rebooted the Mac

Any ideas for how to make the touchscreen work?

Thanks,

Allyson

@AL7Minutes, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

Also, let us perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device. I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!
