Hi @barbara111,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing frustrating printer issues! Let's troubleshoot step by step.

  • Check Printer Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or through a network connection if it's a wireless printer. Also, make sure the power cord is securely plugged into the power outlet and the printer.
  • Printer Status: Check if there are any error messages or warning lights on the printer itself. This can give you clues about what might be wrong.
  • Restart Printer and Computer: Turn off both your printer and computer completely. Wait for a few minutes, then turn them back on. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check Printer Queue: Open the print queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. Sometimes, a stuck print job can prevent new ones from being processed. You can cancel any pending jobs and try printing again.
  • Printer Software: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing problems.
  • Check Paper and Ink Levels: Make sure there is enough paper in the printer tray and that the ink or toner cartridges have sufficient ink or toner.
  • Try a Different Document or Application: Sometimes, the issue might be specific to a particular document or application. Try printing from a different document or using a different program to see if the problem persists.
  • Printer Troubleshooting Tools: Many printers come with built-in troubleshooting tools that can help diagnose and fix common issues. Check your printer's user manual or the HP website for instructions on how to use these tools.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, there might be a more complex problem with your printer hardware or software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
