Trying to print 4x6 envelopes.  I change the advance settings, but as soon as I leave the printer reverts to paper size "Letter" -- anyone got any thoughts of what I might be doing wrong?

You did not mention your printer model - this makes a great deal of difference since there are so many different printers...

That said, a 4x6 inch envelope might be smaller than your printer can handle.

Example

The following is a test using Word and the OfficeJet Pro 9025 as a test printer.

Original question was asked by a customer wanting to print custom envelopes on an Officejet Pro 7740 - which does, for the record, support Custom sizes of paper in this range.

Result of the Test:

Failed.

It is not the custom paper size - it's that you cannot print an ENVELOPE at the requested custom size.

What to do?

Well, you can provide details (Printer model, software being used)

Or

Because it is likely the envelopes are too small,

Skip the details and consider printing labels for use on your small envelopes.
