I can't stop the queue of prints

Hello,

the HP Envy 6132e (part of the Envy Inspire / 6100e series) can occasionally hang jobs in the Windows print spooler, especially when network connection drops or HP Smart restarts mid-print. Let’s go through the proper steps to completely clear the queue and reset the printer connection — this works better than simply clicking “Cancel” in the print dialog.

Step 1: Cancel jobs from Windows

  1. Press Windows + R, type control printers, then press Enter.

  2. Right-click your HP Envy 6100 series printer → choose See what’s printing.

  3. In that window, click Printer → then click Cancel All Documents.

  4. Close the window.

If the jobs don’t disappear, go to Step 2.

Step 2: Manually reset the Print Spooler service

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler.

  3. Right-click it → choose Stop.

  4. Open File Explorer and go to this folder:

    C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS

(If asked for permission, click Continue.)

  5. Delete all files inside this folder — these are the stuck print jobs.

  6. Return to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler again → choose Start.

Now the queue is completely cleared.

Step 3: Power reset the printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord for about 60 seconds.

  2. Plug it back in and power on.

  3. Wait until the Wi-Fi light turns solid or shows “Ready.”

This forces the printer to flush any pending wireless print tasks.

Step 4: Reconnect if queue keeps rebuilding

If you notice jobs reappearing automatically:

  1. Remove the printer from Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.

  2. Re-add it by clicking Add device and selecting your HP Envy 6100 series again.

  3. Ensure the port type is WSD (for network printing) or USB if you’re directly connected.

Step 5 (optional): Clear HP Smart cache

If you’re using the HP Smart app, close it completely, then reopen it after clearing the queue.
HP Smart can sometimes hold cached print tasks and re-send them when the printer reconnects.

After these steps, your print queue should be completely empty and responsive again.
