Hi @cindycap,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering difficulties connecting to your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

1. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router to refresh the network connection.
  • Computer/Device: Restart the device you're using to attempt the connection.

2. Verify Network Connection

  • Check Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure that the printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router and there are no obstructions causing weak signals.
  • Network Status: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings to confirm that it's connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Wi-Fi Light: The Wi-Fi indicator on the printer should be solid (not blinking), confirming an active connection.

3. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.

4. Assign a Static IP

Assigning a static IP address can help maintain a stable connection:

  • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) using its current IP address in a web browser.
  • Navigate to the Network tab, and set up a static IP address in the IP configuration settings.

5. Update Firmware

6. Check Firewall and Security Settings

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software isn’t blocking the printer connection.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall and attempt to connect the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a blissful day 😇.
