Microsoft Windows 11

I successfully replaced the fuser on my Color LaserJet Pro MPF 477fnw.  But now across the top, bottom and left side of any printout in the color mode it has a 1/8th inch margin of magenta bordering the print area.  (Both in landscape and portrait orientations.) Can't figure out how to get rid of it.

Hi @ETM_GA

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re dealing with an issue related to color registration or print settings after replacing the fuser on your Color LaserJet Pro MFP 477fnw. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the unwanted margins:

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size and type settings in the printer driver match the paper you are using. An incorrect setting could cause the printer to adjust the print area.

Perform a Color Calibration:

  • Most laser printers have a color calibration feature that helps align the colors correctly. This can often be found in the printer’s menu under Maintenance or Tools.
  • Running a color calibration can help adjust the color registration and eliminate unwanted margins.

Adjust the Margins:

  • Check your document settings before printing. If you're using a program like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat, ensure that the margins are set to zero or the desired size in the document settings.

Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer’s built-in web server by entering the printer’s IP address into a web browser. Look for settings related to color adjustments or margins.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve printing issues.

Inspect the Fuser Installation:

  • Double-check the fuser installation to ensure that it is seated correctly and that there are no obstructions or issues with the fuser unit. A misaligned fuser can affect print quality.

Try Different Paper Types:

  • Sometimes, using a different type or brand of paper can yield different results. Experiment with various paper types to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Rachel,

Thanks.

I've done most of your suggestions.  (I didn't reinstall the fuser.)  Firmware is up to date, calibration repeated, print settings are correct.

Below is an example of the demo page (no apps like Word).  Margins on 3 sides - both horizontal and vertical. Only magenta.  This alignment of the colors in the images is perfect.
