Use Setup Cartridges error 6978 Printer

HP Recommended
OfficeJet Pro 6978

My 3 1/2 year old 6978 Inkjet is stuck at "Use Setup Cartridges" and I can't get past that; removing/reinserting existing cartridges and pulling/reinserting plug didn't work. In previous discussions of this error, the "Solution" given to a different user was to talk with a tech support agent about changing settings, which worked. I need that solution, an agent to guide me the same way, since no further info about the solution was shown on the discussion board.  Thanks.

Hi @LCKells,

We would have to perform an OOBE reset on the printer to bypass the error

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
