HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

Long after I had replaced cartridges I am suddenly getting a warning that reads "Use Setup cartridges that came with your printer."  How do I get around this?  Thanks,

Hi @Maxi_2020,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Use Setup cartridges that came with your printer" message typically indicates that the printer is not recognizing the cartridges properly. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them to make sure they are seated properly.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Make sure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP cartridges may not be recognized by the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

Clean the Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printer with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab slightly moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Make sure there are no other error messages displayed on the printer’s screen that might provide further insight into the issue.

Following these steps should help you resolve the issue with the setup cartridge message.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
