Hi @RRRudy

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the 'User Intervention' error message on your HP 4100 printer !

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check for Paper Jams or Empty Tray

  1. Paper Jam: Inspect the printer carefully for any paper jams or blockages. Open all compartments where paper might be stuck and gently remove any jammed sheets.
  2. Paper Tray: Ensure that the paper tray is correctly loaded with suitable paper and that it is aligned properly.

Printer Status and Connectivity

  1. Cartridges: Check that all toner or ink cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink or toner level.
  2. Physical Connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network (depending on how your setup is configured). Verify all cable connections.

Printer Settings

  1. Print Queue: Check the print queue on your computer to ensure there are no stalled or stuck print jobs that need to be cleared.
  2. Reboot the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for about a minute, and then plug it back in and restart.

Software and Drivers

  1. Driver Reinstallation: Consider reinstalling the printer drivers. Obtain the latest driver from the HP website or use the installation disc if available.
  2. Use HP's Support Tools: HP provides tools like HP Print and Scan Doctor for troubleshooting printer issues. Download and run the tool to check for and fix common printer problems.

I hope this helps.
