HP Deskjet 1513 All-in-One Printer

I updated my iMac desktop to Ventura 13.7.1 and now my HP Deskjet 1513 will not print.  I have tried resetting the print system, removing and reinstalling the HP software, unplugging and reinstalling the printer and cartridges and still nothing.  I used a recovery disc from a few months ago and got it to print a test page but still won't print anything else.  I can't use the HP Smart app because this printer cannot be connected to WiFi.  Any suggestions?

Hi @NEShopper

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

It sounds like you're facing a frustrating situation with your HP Deskjet 1513 after the macOS update. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue further:

Check Printer Status: Make sure the printer is powered on and ready. Sometimes a simple restart can help.

Add Printer Manually: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, then click the "+" button to add the printer manually. Make sure the printer is recognized and set as the default printer.

Reset Printing System: You mentioned you already did this, but it's worth confirming that the reset was done correctly. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list, and choose “Reset printing system.” After that, add the printer again.

Download Latest Drivers: Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers specifically for macOS Ventura. Sometimes older drivers may not work properly with new OS versions.

Check Print Queue: Open Printers & Scanners and check the print queue for any stuck jobs. Clear any jobs that are stuck.

Print from Different Applications: Try printing from different applications to see if it’s an application-specific issue.

Try Safe Mode: Boot your iMac in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key during startup. Once in Safe Mode, try printing again. This can help identify if any third-party software is interfering.

USB Connection: If you're using a USB connection, try a different USB cable or port. Sometimes connection issues can be hardware-related.

Reinstall HP Software: Uninstall any existing HP software completely before reinstalling it. You can do this through Applications > HP > Uninstall HP Software.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
