Hello Bob-I have your duplex trouble shooter am running Win 7 Home Premium Upgrade with the HP OJ7410. The printer is connected to the computer via usb2.0 cable  I have had Win7 installed on my computer about 8 months with no problem with backside upside down printing until the last 10 days. I am in the process of installing your patch. My problem is that clicking on the cursor is not displaying the command that I need to continue the install process. Thanks.

You posted an almost identical question yesterday that I responded to.  Did you read my response?  If you had an original installation of Windows 7 (not an upgrade from Vista) the patch should not be needed.  What happened ten days ago?  Did you change the driver settings?

I do not understand what you are saying when you say that "clicking on the cursor is not displaying the command I need to continue the install process".  Does the administrative command prompt not open?  If it does open are you not able to type commands in the command window?  Please provide more details of the issue you are having.

Hello Bob-I stated that my Win7 copy is an Upgrade copy. I am getting an upside down print on all backside pages using duplex printing. I repeated my request report to indicate that I am having difficulty performing the duplex patch procedure  to install the duplex patch.  I completed the step to bring up the Administrator command prompt. I cannot complete the next step which requires clicking the cursor in the command prompt box to display the commands in blue bold required to enter the command in the command prompt because nothing happens when I click on the cursor. These instructions are included with the patch. I am trying to follow the instructions to install the duplex patch. Thanks.

OK, I may have been a bit confusing in my instructions in the patch.  Once you have the Admin command prompt opened the cursor should already be there and you can just type the commands in there.  In the instructions I highlighted the commands in blue with yellow highlight just to make them more visible, you just need to type what is says in the command window.

HP Officejet 7310.  Windows 7.  Using latest HP Drivers.  Top and bottom margins are too wide when using duplex.  OK when single sided.  Any thoughts?

Hello Bob-I am not getting the command that you are referring to.

Did you ever find a solution for the shrinking (i.e. - enlarged margins) problem?  I just got my C309a setup and this is driving me insane.  I can't do legitimate proofs of my design work with a printer that keeps shrinking the output!

Hello-I do not have that peoblem. My problem is with the duplexer printing upside down on backside pages.

Try running the program at the following link.  If this does not resolve the issue you will need to get someone to help you apply the patch.

Hello Bob-I entered your request and brought up: C:\Windows\System32>- which is the Administrator command prompt. I clicked on the cursor with a right click with no response and a right click which surfaced a menu that did not apply to installing the duplex patch. I had HP Support Engineers supporting me. They could not produce an answer. No one really can help unless he/she can produce the correct command required to entter in the command prompt.

This will be my last response unless something changes.  You need to carefully read all my responses to you and follow exactly the instructions.  When you have the administrator command prompt open there should be a blinking cursor right after the c:\Windows\System32.  At this point you do not need to click or right click on anything, just type the commands that are shown in blue bold in the instructions.  [My instruction to click in the command box just means to put the mouse pointer anywhere in the administrative command window and (left) click.  This will give focus to the command prompt so anything you type will appear there. [This part was necessary because some folks were inadvertantly clicking somewhere and causing the admin command box to lose focus.  The result is the typing would not happen in the correct place.]  The first thing you would type would be:

  NET STOP SPOOLER

This would give you a response as shown in the patch file instructions.  At this point you will continue typing commands as shown in the instructions.  If there are any errors refer to the instructions of post back here.

For a 32 bit system the patch being applied would look like this:

739iD43E0E9657E34253

If for some reason this does not work (despite the very detailed instructions) you can download the following and run it, it will install the patch automatically as I indicated in my previous response to you.  Click here and save the program, then run it to install the patch.
