Was on HP.com on 21 Sep looking for assistance on my printer. Hasn’t printed since July. A window popped up which said something along the line of - your printer has not been damaged yet please call this number and assistance will be provided- not exactly those words. I called the number -<removed number>. Dude talked for quite a while (yes I like an idiot gave him control of my laptop) about all the things wrong with my laptop and convinced me that it needed all this work. (It’s a brand new laptop). He said he could do that and fix my printer for so much money. After 5 hours they apparently fixed my laptop but my printer is toast.
the company name on the invoice was<removed company name>. Their number was<removed number>. What do you think?

This was definitely not an HP authorized support person you were talking to and if you provided any banking information, contact your bank right away. Also change your passwords and also scan your computer with a product such as malwarebytes.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.
