We have an OfficeJet 7740.  It has stopped printing on both of our desktop computers.  The job shows up in the queue.  the printer will start just like its about to print but only goes for a second then stops.  Nothing comes out of the printer.

@BB1510, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet 7740 Printing Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet 7740 has stopped printing, it could be due to several issues, such as connectivity problems, driver issues, or incorrect settings. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is properly connected to your desktop computers. If using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.
  • If connected wirelessly, verify that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and desktop computers for a few minutes. Then, power them back on to clear any temporary issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP Support Drivers page to download and install the latest drivers for your OfficeJet 7740.

Check Print Queue:

  • Use the print queue to clear any stuck jobs. Go to the Settings on your desktop, open Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and manually cancel any print jobs in the queue.

Check for Jammed Paper:

  • Ensure there is no paper jam inside the printer. Refer to the printer's user guide for instructions on safely removing paper jams.

Perform a Hard Reset on the Printer:

  • Sometimes, performing a hard reset can resolve printing issues. Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, and plug it back in.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the documents you are trying to print or if there is a broader issue with the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
