@MGB82, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Stopped - 'filter' failed" error on your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer typically points to a driver or compatibility issue when using CUPS (Common Unix Printing System). Here's how you can fix it depending on your setup:

Fix for macOS

Reset the Printing System:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose "Reset printing system..."
  • This will remove all printers – you’ll need to re-add yours.

Reinstall the Printer Driver:

  • Visit the official HP site: HP ENVY Photo 7855 Drivers
  • Download the latest full-feature software for macOS.
  • Install it, then add your printer again using System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Ensure AirPrint is not being used (if possible):

  • When re-adding the printer, click the “Use” drop-down and select HP driver, not AirPrint.
  • If you only see AirPrint, install the HP driver first, then try again.

Quick Workaround (If You Need to Print Urgently)

  • Save the document as a PDF.
  • Use HP Smart app on your phone or Mac.
  • Try printing via USB cable instead of Wi-Fi (just to bypass driver issues temporarily).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
