There are so many "DeskJet" printers --
Many of these do support a full driver software -- the full driver, in turn, supports printing from within Office type software, including Word and Excel.
If you have previously installed such software, that is, the Full Feature Software,
- If the software is not working, consider uninstalling it from Programs and Features > Restart computer > Install a new copy of the installation package.
OR
- If the full driver printer software was never installed, consider doing that.

Open Software & Drivers for your printer
Change (if necessary) the Operating System / version
Open "All Software and Drivers" > Open All
Look for the Driver package you want to install
