@Gabby1961,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

 Please follow the below steps:

If the HP Envy 4520 suddenly stopped connecting to Wi-Fi after a network issue, try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart Everything

  • Turn off the printer, iPad, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then turn on the router first.
  • Once the router is fully online, turn on the printer and iPad.

2. Check the Printer’s Wi-Fi Connection

  • On the printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password carefully.
  • If it connects but still says “No Internet,” move to step 3.

3. Print a Network Test Report

  • Go to Setup > Reports > Print Network Configuration Page.
  • Check if the printer has an IP address (e.g., 192.168.x.x).
    • If it shows "Not Connected", the printer isn’t on Wi-Fi.
    • If it has an IP but still won’t print, the issue may be on your iPad or router.

4. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

  • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Network Settings.
  • Then try reconnecting to Wi-Fi.

5. Check the Router Settings

  • Ensure 2.4GHz Wi-Fi is enabled (many older printers don’t support 5GHz).
  • If your Wi-Fi name changed recently, reconnect the printer using the new SSID.

6. Manually Reinstall the Printer on the iPad

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, forget the printer, and reconnect.
  • Open the HP Smart app, tap “Add Printer,” and follow the steps.

7. Try a USB Connection (if urgent printing is needed)

  • Connect the printer to a PC using a USB cable and try printing.

8. Update Printer Firmware (if Wi-Fi connects but prints fail)

  • Use HP Smart app or go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I tried all of things and checked everything. It was  working great and just like that it stopped connecting ting to wi-fi? Can there be something wrong with the printer? Some told me there is a chip inside that makes the wi-fi connection, is that true and could it have gone bad? Thank you

Thank you for your response,

Yes, your HP Envy 4520 has a wireless module (chip) responsible for connecting to Wi-Fi, and it can fail over time. However, before assuming a hardware failure, try these troubleshooting steps to confirm:

Check if the Printer’s Wi-Fi is Working

  1. Activate Wi-Fi Direct:
    • On the printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Direct > Turn On.
    • Connect your iPad directly to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network (e.g., HP-Print-XX-4520).
    • Try printing.
    • If Wi-Fi Direct works but your home Wi-Fi does not, your printer’s wireless module may still be functional but having trouble with the router.

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

  1. Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  2. Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
  3. Set up Wi-Fi again using Wireless Setup Wizard.

Check Router Settings

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi is set to 2.4GHz (HP Envy 4520 does not support 5GHz).
  • Disable IPv6 in router settings (some printers have issues with IPv6).
  • If possible, try connecting the printer to a different Wi-Fi network to test.

Test a USB Connection

  • If USB works but Wi-Fi still fails, the wireless module may be faulty.
  • If Wi-Fi doesn’t work even after a factory reset, the Wi-Fi chip may be damaged.
