All of a sudden my Officejet 8710 will not print. I can't print from my computer and I cannot insert a document & copy it. It just keeps showing "coping page 1/1"
I have turned it off, unplugged it, plugged it back in & restarted it. Still won't print or copy.
Do I have to have color cartridges installed if I never print in color?
My black cartridge is full.
Mahalo for your assistance

Hi @Dklein,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printing and copying issues on the HP Officejet 8710!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that all cartridges are properly installed, including color cartridges. Even if you print only in black, the printer usually requires all cartridges to be installed.
- Verify that the cartridges are not expired and are properly seated in their respective slots.
Check Printer Status:
- Examine the printer's status for any error messages or blinking lights that might indicate specific issues needing attention.
Paper Jam Check:
- Double-check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path or feeder that could be preventing printing or copying functions.
Perform Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, wait about 60 seconds, then reconnect and power on the printer.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check for and install any available firmware updates from the HP support website, as these updates often resolve known issues.
Run Printer Diagnostics:
- Utilize any built-in diagnostics or cleaning cycles available through the printer's menu settings.
Check Printer Settings:
- If you have changed any settings recently, verify that they match your current printing needs, e.g., correct paper type or print quality settings.
I hope this helps.
