Microsoft Windows 11

My laser printer is just a black and white one, I do not need a complicated color one. My music software I wish to print out will not print double sided UNLESS manual is selected. (If I turn it off in the driver what difference would that make? It's contradictory.) IF I run the requisite # of pages through, when it comes time to flip, it reprints in reverse order the even numbered pages instead of the odd ones on the reverse of the evens.

I would like not to waste a lot of paper learning how to make this as effective as it is supposed to be.

@MVLH, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems you're encountering issues with setting up double-sided printing manually with your laser printer. Normally, when dealing with manual double-sided printing, you'll need to manually flip and reinsert the paper into the printer. This process can be confusing, especially with certain software or printer drivers that automatically reverse the order of pages.

Here's a step-by-step guide to potentially resolve this:

Ensure Printer Settings Are Correct: Check your printer's driver settings and make sure manual duplex (double-sided) printing is enabled correctly. Disabling automatic duplex in the settings may prevent the printer from automatically reversing or flipping pages, leaving you with manual control.

Print Odd Pages First: Start by selecting "Print Odd Pages Only" from within your print menu, if your software provides this option. This allows you to print only one side of the paper first.

Flip and Reinsert Pages: Once the odd pages are printed, manually reinsert the printed stack into the paper tray. This is usually done by flipping the stack over, ensuring the printed side is up or down as required (check your printer documentation for specifics).

Print Even Pages: Next, select "Print Even Pages Only" to print on the back side of the already printed pages.

Check Order and Orientation: Experiment with the orientation and order of pages in the tray after flipping. It may take a couple of trials to get the correct sequence, ensuring pages are printed in the desired order.

Software Specific Adjustments: If your music software has specific print settings or preferences, review them thoroughly as they may override printer settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
